Exceptional Veneers For Exceptional Homes
The veneer is a term used in the woodworking industry to describe thin slices of wood and sometimes bark that is glued onto core panels (typically wood, particleboard, or medium-density fibreboard) to create flat panels such as doors, tops, cabinets, parquet floors, and parts of furniture. Marquetry employs them as well. Three or more layers of veneer make up plywood. For strength, each is usually bonded with its grain at right angles to subsequent layers. Veneer beading is a decorative edging that is applied to the edges of things such as jewellery boxes. In Wood Veneer HPL, a veneer is also utilized to replace decorative sheets. A veneer is a manufactured board as well.
Because of the expansion and contraction induced by temperature and humidity fluctuations, several projects produced with wood veneer would be impossible to build with solid lumber.
Veneer quality
One of the critical advantages of veneer over wood is its stability. While solid wood is prone to warping and splitting, a veneer is less likely to split or crack since it comprises thin layers of wood glued together.
Types of Categories
Smoked Veneers
Smoked veneers (also known as “fumed” veneers) are made from wood that has been exposed to ammonia vapors to give it a rich, warm color. Most species, including oak, larch, eucalyptus, sapelli, red gum, Douglas fir, and cherry, can be treated in around two to three weeks. The fumed wood veneer is also less brittle and more springy.
Stone veneers
Natural slate is used to make natural stone thin veneer sheets. The slate surface is fractured and separated into fragile stone layers ranging in thickness from 1mm to 2mm. To prepare the flexible panel, it’s mixed with fiberglass and polyester resins. Because thin stone slim veneer is so light and flexible, it may be used when traditional stone cladding would be impossible or impractical.
Dyed Veneers
The dye is soaked in natural veneers to entirely permeate the veneer, resulting in a uniform tone and improved natural grain. One of the most appealing features of colored wood veneer is its color uniformity.
